Bayern Munich Captain Philipp Lahm Slams Franck Ribery for Elbowing Dortmund's Felix Passlack

Published on: 18 August 2016

Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has warned teammate Franck Ribery over his future conduct after the Frenchman appeared to elbow Dortmund's Felix Passlack in the Bundesliga Supercup on Sunday.

Ribery, 33, picked up a yellow-card for the skirmish, staying on the field to help his side run out eventual 2-0 winners with second-half goals coming from Arturo Vidal and Thomas Muller.

But Lahm has refused to forget about the incident, telling Ribery to 'keep his hands off his opponents' in future encounters.

"I have told him that he should keep his hands off his opponents," Lahm said at a news conference, as quoted by "?Goal.

"I think he understands what I mean, but you cannot just change his character altogether, that is rather difficult.

"I just hope that things like this do not happen again in the future, but I obviously cannot guarantee anything."

Lahm's comments are not the first time Ribery has been involved in a public ticking off, with new boss Carlo Ancelotti warning him for throwing an elbow in the pre-season fixture against Inter, while Bayern Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had words to say after the Frenchman criticised former manager Pep Guardiola.

Ribery finally gets sent off... by Ancelotti.

Bayern begin their Bundesliga title defence on August 26th, with a home fixture against Werder Bremen before travelling to Schalke 04 for the second round of fixtures on September 9th.

The Bavarian outfit will have to battle to hold on to Austrian star David Alaba, who is the subject of intense transfer interest from Champions League winners Real Madrid, with "?Los Blancos prepared to offer James Rodriquez in a swap-deal.
