"?Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szcz?sny is heading back to AS Roma on another loan deal, as has been announced by the club's official website.

The stopper spent last season on loan there, and with Petr Cech the main man between the sticks for the Gunners, it was expected that he would be playing his football elsewhere next season.

He is believed to have undergone a medical on Thursday ahead of the deal, and it is understood that Roma do not have the option to make it a permanent one.

They will, however, pay his £46,000-a-week wages and give Arsenal an £840,000 loan fee.

After landing at the Fiumicino Airport in the Italian capital, he said: "I'm fine, and I'm happy to be back."

Szcz?sny joined Arsenal in 2006 as a part of their youth set-up, eventually progressing to the first team and making his senior debut in 2009.

He would be loaned to Brentford later that season, and spent five straight campaigns with the Gunners upon his return. Things went sour, however, after he was caught smoking in the showers after a 2-0 defeat to Southampton in 2015.

Cech's arrival saw things get even worse for the Poland international, and he was subsequently shipped off to Roma on loan.

His last appearance for Arsenal came in the 2015 FA Cup final which the Gunners won 4-0.

"I'm very happy,"? the stopper said to Roma TV. "After a good season last year I had possibility of coming back and I was very happy that the coach wanted me. I'm delighted to be back and I hope that we can improve on what we did last season."?
