Andrea Pirlo: Juventus Are Still Laughing That Paul Pogba Was Allowed to Leave Manchester United

Published on: 14 August 2016

"?Paul Pogba completed his sensational return to Old Trafford earlier this week, however, Pogba's former teammate Andrea Pirlo has claimed that Juventus were in disbelief that the Premier League giants allowed him to leave in the first place.

"?"?Quoted in the Daily Mail, Pirlo said that the Juventus players found themselves laughing amongst each-other when the French star trained with them for the first time.

Pogba had been the subject of interest from a number of Europe's top clubs, however, he chose to return to his former club, declaring that he had unfinished business at a place that felt was home to him.

Pirlo, who is now enjoying his time in the MLS with New York City, believes it was always obvious that the 23-year-old would be destined for great things.

'I will always remember the first day he trained at Juventus. He was only young, but we could see he was special."

After Manchester United smashed the world record transfer to bring Pogba back to Old Trafford, the Italian reflected on the starlet's arrival in Turin.

"On the first day training session Pogba had with Juventus the players were laughing," said Pirlo.

'We were not laughing for any other reason than we were just in total disbelief that this player with so much obvious ability was able to leave a club the size of Manchester United for free "? and I think Juventus are still laughing."

The Italian champions may well still be laughing after making a total profit of around £90m for the star, who netted on 32 occasions during his time in Italy.

"They signed a player of his quality for no money, he was a big part of them winning trophies in four seasons, and they then sell him for £90m. Whatever way you look at it, Juventus have got a great deal," stated the Italian play-maker.
