Football Academy Abuja (FAA) forward Theophilus Awua has joined Serie B side Spezia following his super showing for the Academy during their recent tour of Italy. Awua still only 17 has been training with the first team of the Serie B side that narrowly missed out on promotion to the Serie A last season via the play offs in his bid to force his way into the team before the start of the season.
He won’t be the only Nigerian at the Serie B side with former U-23 defender Tahir Maigini popularly called Fabregas also back at the club after a loan spell with Serie D side USD Lavegnesse last season.
David Okereke had a breakthrough season at the club last season and the soon to be 18 year old is still at the club although yet to be fully fit after the injury that brought his season to a premature end last season.
The trio are most likely to be joined by the Nigeria U-20 duo of Kingsley Michael and Orji Okonkwo before the end of the season if they accept the offer presently on their table from the team.
