Zinedine Zidane has named his first France squad, selecting 23 players for the Nations League fixtures against Turkey, Belgium and Italy.
The new head coach has included established figures including Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, Michael Olise, Rayan Cherki, Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola, while also handing international debuts to five players.
France begin their campaign away to Turkey on 25 September before travelling to face Belgium. They then play Italy on 2 October, followed three days later by a home fixture against Belgium.
While other national teams have selected larger groups, Zidane has limited his squad to 23 players.
The five uncapped players are goalkeeper Guillaume Restes, defenders Andy Diouf and Jeremy Jacquet, Como midfielder Lucas Da Cunha and Rennes forward Esteban Lepaul.
The new selections are spread across the squad, with Restes providing competition in goal, Diouf and Jacquet added to the defence, Da Cunha included in midfield and Lepaul the only new attacking option.
There are otherwise few surprises in Zidane’s first France selection. The squad contains several prominent names, including Real Madrid forward Mbappe and PSG pair Dembele and Doue.
France’s previous World Cup ended disappointingly, with the team losing two matches in succession. Spain, who went on to win the competition, beat them 2-0 in the semi-final.
The French side then suffered a 6-4 defeat by England in an eventful third-place play-off.
