Zanaco replace Amuneke in less than 12 hours

Published on: 11 April 2023

Former Barcelona super forward Emmanuel Amunike has left Zambian Premier League side Zanaco and was immediately replaced with an interim, Nigeriasoccernet.com  reports.

In September 2022, Amunike was appointed as coach on consultancy level by those in charge of Zanaco with the mandate of him changing the fortune of the club.

However, the former Barcelona star was unable to change the situation at the club which forced those in charge to ask him to leave.

Wedson Nyireda has been hired by Zanaco chiefs as coach until the head of the season with the target of him saving the side from relegation.

Zanaco are winless in their last eight league games with the former champions loosing 1-0 to NAPSA Stars FC last weekend.

Despite their poor form of run this season, Zanaco are currently occupying 13th position on the Zambian league table with 34 points.

Amunike was not the only one affected as all his coaching crew members were also shown the exit doors. Assistant, Emeka Amadi and head coach Kelvin Kaindu also parted ways with the club.
