Napoli have confirmed that midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa has suffered a new injury to the adductor muscle in his right thigh.
The Cameroon international had already missed Napoli’s Serie A match against Bologna and their Champions League fixture with Arsenal because of an adductor problem.
Anguissa returned during the closing stages of the 1-1 draw with Fiorentina, coming on in the final minute. However, he experienced further fitness problems shortly after entering the match.
Napoli said the injury has now been officially diagnosed and that the midfielder has begun his recovery programme.
Anguissa could still be available for Napoli’s first match after the international break, against Frosinone on 10 October.
