Yassir Zabiri says he is relishing his first call-up to the Morocco senior squad after making a strong impression with the country’s Under-20 side.
The young forward has joined the Lions of the Atlas A for the first time and is hoping to make his senior debut during Morocco’s upcoming fixtures.
“It is a great emotion,” Zabiri told Le 360 Sport, adding that he had quickly settled into the squad.
The attacker has also been helped by the presence of several players he already knows, easing his introduction to the senior national team.
Zabiri was one of Morocco’s key performers during their run at the 2025 U20 World Cup in Chile. His displays at that tournament have raised expectations ahead of his first involvement with the senior side.
He thanked his team-mates and Morocco’s supporters for the backing they have given him as he takes the next step in his international career.
Morocco begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign at home against Gabon in Rabat on Friday, 25 September.
They then face Lesotho in South Africa on 29 September before playing Ghana in a friendly in Tangier on 4 October.
Zabiri will hope the three-match schedule gives him the chance to make his first appearance for the Morocco senior team.
