Wycombe Wanderers open investigation on Fred Onyedinma's racism incident

Fred Onyedinma was subject to racist abuse during Wycombe Wanderers clash against Wigan Athletic, much to the displeasure of the club and other players. The club condemned such disgusting action and revealed that they are working closely with the police to find the perpetrator, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Nigerian player, who can function in a handful of positions, has been backed by the club as they applaud his calmness and professionalism in handling such an issue.

The club, therefore, released an official statement, which read: "Wycombe Wanderers are extremely disappointed to report an incident of racist abuse towards Fred Onyedinma from a Wigan Athletic supporter during the fixture at Adams Park. The incident has been reported to Thames Valley Police, and the club will assist fully with the investigation.

"We applaud Fred and those supporters in the vicinity of the incident who also reported the matter. The club will make no further comment at this time but offers its full support to the player and reaffirms its zero tolerance policy for discrimination of any kind."

With the investigation still going on, Fred will continue playing as the club looks to avoid future occurrences.
