World ranking: Super Eagles drop to 44

The Nigeria Super Eagles have been ranked 44th in the latest FIFA Men's World Ranking, falling to their worst ranking in six years, according to Nigeriasoccernet.com.

Despite Nigeria remaining unbeaten during the recent international window, moved two places down worldwide and 5th in Africa in the latest FIFA rankings.

This is the third time within the past nine months that Nigeria have occupied 44th position in the rankings, having held the same position in both November and December 2024.

In Africa, Morocco remained top as they are ranked 12th while Senegal moved up to 18th in the world, becoming Africa's second-best team. Egypt has dropped slightly to 34th globally, making them third in Africa.

Algeria holds its 36th position worldwide and stays fourth in Africa. Nigeria has slipped to 44th place globally, ranking fifth among African nations.

FIFA confirmed that over 200 international fixtures were accounted for in compiling the July rankings, and the next men’s World Ranking will be published on September 18 2025.
