Head coach of the Nigeria U-20 national team, Emmanuel Amuneke, has declared he wants to give every player an opportunity to showcase their talent in a bid to stake a claim in the Flying Eagles squad.

The former Barcelona of Spain winger who won the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup with the Golden Eaglets in Chile said giving every Nigerian youngster the chance to show off their skills will provide him the opportunity to select the best for the team who will face their Burundian counterparts next month in the 2017 CAF U-20 Cup of Nations qualifiers.

“On Tuesday we closed our open screening exercise but as you can see many other players showed up for our training session today (Wednesday) so we have to give them a look in,” the 1994 African Footballer of the Year.

“They are all Nigerians, they deserve a look-in, who knows one or two may have the desired qualities to make the team.

“And because we want the best for the nation, every Nigerian should be given the chance to try their luck.”

The former Zamalek of Egypt left winger disclosed that the response of the players in training was very encouraging.
