Why we defeated South Africa this time - Waldrum

Coach Randy Waldrum has disclosed the reason why the Super Falcons emerged triumphant against their fierce rivals, South Africa to take the Olympic ticket in the last round of qualification for the tournament, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

In recent times, the Banyana Banyana have had the edge over the 9-time champions of Africa, but could not continue that run after losing on aggregate 1-0 after the two legged affair in Abuja last week and Pretoria on Tuesday.

And the Nigerian Coach has said the difference this time for his team is the level of preparation, organization and how the team has adapted to his defensive structure.

"I believe the difference is first of all the first two times they beat us; in the Aisha Buhari Cup that I was the coach and also at AFCON. I think the difference is the teams were different. So, I think we were much much better organize than the previous two times that we played them. So that's why I felt confident going into these two games. I know South Africa talked a lot before the two matches- how they were going to this and that and we just kept quiet. I believed in our team and I knew we would be a hard team to break us down even with their talents and the thing is you hope to use few of your opportunities to advance and that's what we did."

The Super Falcons have shown great defensive ability since the world cup keeping 7 to 8 clean sheets.
