Why Carlos Bacca Would Be the Perfect Signing for West Ham United

Published on: 04 June 2016

"?West Ham seem to be linked with a new striker every hour, and their pursuit for the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Michy Batshuayi seem to be never-ending.

Carlos Bacca is the latest reported player to be on the Hammers' radar, and this signing seems most plausible.

For some reason however, many fans reacted negatively to the news on Twitter, believing that he isn't good enough to lead their team out at the Olympic Stadium.

Bacca would be a a great signing for West Ham. Loved watching him for Sevilla

But this is coming from a club who had Modibo Maiga and Carlton Cole leading the line just a few years ago. Simply, Carlos Bacca would be a brilliant fit for the Hammers and would undoubtedly score more than all of their current forwards.

He might be 29-years-old, which is one of the key points used by those who don't want him in East London, but Dimitri Payet is the same age, and he has proven that he can still compete with younger players.

Bacca's goalscoring record over the years is impressive, and he has scored between 20 and 28 goals every season in the last four years.

The Colombian is pacey and aggressive, capable of making runs in behind the defence without running offside, something that would add great diversity to West Ham's front line currently lead by the aerially gifted Andy Carroll.

Fans may be frustrated that Bacca isn't the £30m man they were promised by their chairmen, but in today's market, you'd be hard pushed to find a world class striker for less than that amount. Bacca will cost around £19m, which is a steal for a man who has netted over 20 goals in both Spain and Italy's top divisions.

Carlos Bacca off to West Ham, great signing that, he was a beast on FIFA 13 UT.

Lacazette will not join West Ham. It was always a long shot but Lyon clearly want big bucks for him, especially with PSG lurking. Bacca may actually leave, why would he not want to play for a team in the Europa League, after all, his AC Milan side finished 7th in Serie A, missing out on continental competition.

He may not be a young, expensive signing brought in for the future, but Carlos Bacca is a guaranteed goal machine, and with the big move to the Olympic Stadium on the horizon, that is exactly what West Ham United need.
