The President of New Edubiase United FC, Abdul Salam Yakubu has disclosed that his club had no option but to push Heart of Lions to relegation after the two clashed at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

Speaking after the game Salam Yakubu insisted that his side had only one choice ahead of the game and that was the only option that could secure their survival in the league.

"We had no option but to push Lions to relegation. That was the only choice that could also save us. We were all battling relegation and the best way to handle issues was to beat Lions and survive and we couldn't resist," Sabato said.

"We have had a very cordial relationship with the club and their President Randy Abbey but at this point, we had nothing to do but to beat them. We would have gone to relegation with even a draw against them."

"I am sad for Randy Abbey but I think that is what had to happen," Salam added.

New Edubiase recorded a 4-2 victory over the Kpando based side in a fiercely contested battle at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium dubbed the battle of Survival to push the opponents to the lower division.

Heart of Lions will hence play in the Division One League next season and fight back for a ticket to return to the Premiership
