Despite a dismal start to their World Cup qualifying campaign, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau is confident that the Super Eagles will still secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
"This is a very sad moment for Nigerian football and we can not run away from that," Gusau said.
“What I can assure you is that we're working tirelessly with the Sports Minister to make sure we take some holistic measures that will change the entire system."
The Super Eagles have only managed to pick up three points from four games, leaving them in fifth position in Group C, four points behind joint leaders Benin Republic and South Africa.
However, Gusau believes that the Super Eagles can still turn their fortunes around and qualify for the global tournament. "It's still possible and we're going to make it," he added.
The Super Eagles face an uphill task, needing to win all their remaining six matches to stand a chance of qualifying for the World Cup.
