Watford have reportedly turned down a massive a £37.5m bid from Chinese side Shanghai SIPG for Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo.

The Massive, who are managed by former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson, are keen to partner Ighalo with new signing Hulk after the Brazilian striker joined the club on Thursday.

The Nigeria international came to world-wide recognition in his debut season in the Premier League when he helped the Hornets stay clear of relegation, scoring 16 goals and contributing a further five assists in 37 games.

The 27-year-old’s form has led to him being labeled indispensable to the club and their Italian owner, Gino Pozzo, made a statement claming both Ighalo and captain Troy Deeney – who has attracted the interest of Leicester City – will remain at Vicarage Road ahead of the new campaign.
