Nigeria will tomorrow meet Cote d’Ivoire in the semifinals of the ongoing WAFU B U-17 Championship held in Ghana.
The other semifinal match, which features Burkina Faso and Ghana, holds at Cape Coast Stadium.
Nigeria won Group A of the championship, while Cote d’Ivoire finished second in Group B behind Burkina Faso, who beat them 4-2 in their last group game on Saturday.
Group B’s last group game ended in a shock 3-1 defeat of Benin Republic by Niger Republic also on Saturday.
Nigeria finished the group stage unbeaten. They defeated hosts, Ghana and Togo to top Group A.
Also unbeaten Burkina Faso will face Ghana in the second semifinal.
Winners in the two semifinals will represent the zone at the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations billed for Algeria next year.
All four semifinalists in Algeria will qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup finals later in the year in Peru.
Nigeria remains the world’s most successful team at this level with five world titles to its name.
