The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a significant increase in prize money for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, with the winners set to receive $1 million, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The second-placed team will pocket $500,000, while the third-place finisher will take home $350,000.
According to CAF, the increased prize money will be reflected in the bonuses of all participating teams.
Twelve nations will compete in the tournament, which is set to kick off on Saturday.
The teams are divided into three groups, with hosts Morocco facing Zambia in the opening match.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria, the most successful team in the competition's history with nine titles, will begin their campaign against Tunisia in Casablanca on Sunday.
