Voller hopes Brandt will stay

Bayer Leverkusen hope that qualifying for the Champions League next season will encourage midfielder Julian Brandt to stay with the club for the immediate future.

The 23-year-old Germany international has been linked with interest from clubs in both Germany and Spain, but Die Werkself sporting director Rudi Voller is hopeful that securing Champions League football could make the difference to Brandt.

Voller told Sky Sports News: "We know exactly which clubs have knocked. Brandt has some requests and in the next five, six or seven days there will be a decision.

"By reaching the Champions League, we hope we have a small or big chance (that he will stay)."

Brandt, who has won 24 national team caps, was among the scorers on Saturday as Leverkusen won 5-1 at Hertha Berlin to ensure that they finished in fourth place in the Bundesliga.

He has spent the whole of his career to date at the BayArena, scoring 41 goals in 214 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Voller also dismissed any suggestions that rising star Kai Havertz could be on the move this summer, with the 19-year-old having scored 17 goals in the Bundesliga this season.

He added: "There is no discussion with him. He is a wonderful footballer, but he is only 19.

"One year - at least - at Bayer Leverkusen would do him good and then we'll see."

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are 8/15 to win the final of the DFB-Pokal, with RB Leipzig priced at 5/1.
