Ghana goalkeeper Razak Brimah continues to show good form upon resumption of the Spanish second tier as he helped CD Mirandes maintain their unbeaten run with a 3-1 win at Deportivo Alaves on Saturday.
The marauding shot-stopper made several vital saves to preserve a 7th minute lead through Igor Martinez.
Carlos Terraza’s side have gone seven games unbeaten prior to their visit to Alaves and they weren’t in the mood to give up this record.
The hosts however kept pressing for the equalizer but found it extremely difficult getting the ball past the agile Ghanaian goalkeeper.
Urko Vera doubled Mirandes’ in the 20th minute as reward for the astute defending.
Terraza’s side were however put under sustained pressure by the hosts early in the second half but Razak Brimah constantly thwarted their efforts.
The 27-year-old did not travel to Ghana for the Christmas and New Year festivities to continue with his training to help his side win Saturday’s match before joining the Black Stars camp in Spain.
He proved the reason why he has hogged the headlines in almost all the newspapers in Spain by putting in another assured display.
He was however beaten two minutes from time by Manu Barreiro to set up a grants stand finish.
But a swift counter attack by the visitors a minute later resulted in Asier Barahona slotting in with a tap in from close range to win the precious away points for Mirandes.
The club is now just a point away from a La Liga playoff spot as their influential goalkeeper leaves to join the Ghana squad to prepare for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
