Victor Osimhen set for Galatasaray return against Kas?mpasa

Fit-again Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is expected to return from injury for Galatasaray’s match against Kas?mpasa on 9 October.

Osimhen is set to play at least 30 minutes in the Turkish fixture, according to SabahSports, as he steps up his recovery from a groin problem.

The Nigerian has been out of action since sustaining the injury during Galatasaray’s Turkish Super Lig match against Istanbul Basaksehir in September.

He is also expected to start Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League match against Barcelona.

Osimhen’s return will provide a boost for Galatasaray after his spell on the sidelines. The forward’s planned appearance against Kas?mpasa is intended to give him competitive minutes before the meeting with Barcelona.

The striker has also been recognised for his performances during the opening six weeks of the Trendyol Super Lig.

Turkish football data application OptaCan rated Osimhen as the player who had the ball most often in the opposition penalty area during that period.

He led the ranking with 44 such involvements. Mason Greenwood and Mohamed Salah followed with 36 each, while Leandro Trossard recorded 30.

Osimhen’s return against Kas?mpasa will therefore come after his absence caused by the injury sustained against Istanbul Basaksehir, with the 30-minute target offering him a route back to full match fitness before the Champions League fixture.
