Nigeria Super Eagles forward, Victor Boniface returned to action for Bayern Leverkusen on Wednesday in the Germany, DFB Pokal semi final tie against Fortuna, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Boniface returned after he was sideline in December due to injury as a 74 minute substitute in Bundesliga leader's big (4-0) win over Fortuna at the BayArena, Leverkusen.
Jeremiah Frimpong had opened score on 8 minute with a Boniface celebration before Adli doubled the lead 11 minute later.
Flo Wirtz made it 3-0 on 35 minute setting Bayern on a course of victory as the first half ended the same.
Early in the second half, it was 4 as Leverkusen looked bound for the final after Flo Wirtz scored his second from the spot to consolidate victory for the Werkself.
Boniface and his compatriot, Nathan Tella came on 65 minute to join their teammates in the final.
After the match, Coach Xabi Alonso started that the club needed the Nigerian back.
"It was special for him after 3 months out. He worked hard to get back on the pitch. He wanted to enjoy it with the players. We needed him back."
