Venezia boss Giovanni Stroppa facing sack after next match

Venezia manager Giovanni Stroppa could be dismissed if his side fail to produce a result against Atalanta on Monday.

The club, who have returned to Serie A, have made a difficult start to the season, losing all five of their opening matches.

Despite Stroppa’s standing at the club, his position is no longer considered secure. Italian outlet derbyderbyderby.it reports that Venezia’s faith in the manager is not unlimited.

Transfer-market expert Matteo Moretto says the club have already examined possible replacements. Davide Nicola and Paolo Zanetti are among the leading candidates to succeed Stroppa if he is removed.

Venezia’s next Serie A fixture is at home to Atalanta on Monday, with the result potentially determining the manager’s immediate future.
