Usman Abdullahi gives reasons for the invitation of 120 indigenous players for screening

After the news of Katsina United inviting one and twenty indigenous players for screening ahead of the new NPFL season, Katsina United Coach Usman Abdullahi has given the reasons behind the decision of the club.

 

The former Enyimba gaffer disclosed he was the one who instigated the club to go through the process of bringing in indigenous players into Katsina United.

 

The aim according to Abdullahi is to have at least two players in the team A and B of the club.

 

"I told them to scout two or three good players from all the local governments in Katsina during the holidays. He said to a local radio in Kano (Nasara Radio) on the program Taskar.

 

"I will give them two weeks to conduct screening after which they will recommend the best players amongst them to me and I will assess them and see the ones that will fit to the team A and B. At least in the end we can get two, three, four or there about that can make the team.”

 

It will be recalled that the management of the club had invited one hundred and twenty indigenous players for screening exercise ahead of the commencement of the Nigeria National League season.

 

The players were drawn from all the 34 local governments areas of the state for a screening exercise scheduled to hold between Wednesday the 28th of September to 6th October 2022 at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium Katsina.
