Nigeria players continued their exploits in the Europe's topflight club football competition, the UEFA Champions League for their respective club side on Wednesday.
Two Super Eagles players, striker Victor Osimhen of Napoli of Italy and defender Calvin Bassey of Ajax Amsterdam squared up against each other on Wednesday.
But it was the former that had the last laugh as he scored in Napoli's 4-2 win over Ajax.
The former Lille forward scored his first Champions league goal upon his return from injury as he came in the 50th minute to score 8 minute before regulation time to put the game beyond Ajax.
However, Osimhen received a yellow card in the 90th minute.
Meanwhile, Bassey recorded his first Champions League goal contribution as he provided an assist for Davy Klassen in the loss. He was also shown a yellow card in the 66th minute.
Raphael Onyedika was an integral part of Club Brugge's goalless stalemate against Athletico Madrid.
The midfielder made seven tackles and created a chance in the game.
The result takes Club Brugge to the knock out stage of the competition for the first time in the club's history.
However, Onyedika's countryman, Antonio Nusa was an unused sub in the game.
Zaidu Sanusi played full ninety minute in FC Porto's away win over Bayer 04 Leverkusen at the BayArena in Germany.
Nigerian striker Fortune Bassey made the matchday squad but was an unused substitute in Viktoria Plezen's 2-4 loss to Bayern Munich.
