U20 AFCON: Mozambique coach target victory against Flying Eagles

Published on: 23 February 2023

Following their 3-0 loss to Senegal in their second group game at the ongoing U20 AFCON, Mozambique coach Dario Monteiro said his team is in a win or out situation as they prepare to face Nigeria's Flying Eagles in their final group match on Saturday, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

Speaking after their defeat to Senegal, Dario Monteiro who led the team to a goaless draw with host Egypt said the game against Nigeria will be difficult but remained optimistic about getting a positive result.

"We are now preparing to face Nigeria on Saturday. The match is not easy, but we are holding on to our chance to rise and we will fight for victory.

"It is now clear, either we win or we return to our country," Monteiro said.

Nigeria meanwhile, got their campaign back on track after beating host Egypt by a lone goal on Wednesday evening.

A draw against Mozambique is enough to see the Flying Eagles through to next round provided Egypt failed to beat Senegal.
