Two time CAF Champions League winner evaluates Rivers United chances in the CAF CL

Two time CAF Champions League winner and former Nigeria international, Victor Ezeji has talked about the chances of Rivers United going through to the group stage of the CAF Champions League as they face the test of defending champions, Wydad Casablanca.

Rivers United breezed past Watanga FC to set up a mouthwatering tie against Wydad, and Ezeji has thrown his weight behind the Nigerian side.

The former NPFL star, however, noted that it would not be easy to beat the defending champions, although the task is a possibility.

The former Sharks and Enyimba striker said he believes Rivers United are determined to fight their way through to the African premier Competition.

‘Football is not mathematics, and I hope that with the right motivation and preparedness, Rivers United can stage an upset,’ Ezeji told FL.

He insists the monetary incentive of $40,000 to each player, as promised by the Rivers State Government, should be enough motivation for them to force their way into the group stage of the Champions League, even against the odds.
