"?Professional footballers are often accused of not caring about the supporters of clubs that pay them handsomely - and sometimes with good reason over the abuse they endure.
On the odd occasion, however, there comes a reminder that some football fans are not middle aged men who scream at their supposed heroes on the pitch on a Saturday afternoon.
One such reminder fell the way of Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney, who received a rather sweet letter from a young Cottagers fan telling him to keep his head up after a recent penalty miss.
The 23-year-old's spot kick would have sealed a much needed point against Queens Park Rangers before the October international break, but his miss ensured Fulham fell to a 2-1 defeat.
Refusing to let Cairney's head drop, though, the young supporter sent him a handwritten note - complete with a £3 fee as a thank you for his services to the club:

The letter reads: "To Cairny (sic). I am now going to list five things about Cairny any tips.
"Good skills, Try to do a bicycle kick, Run to get the ball fast, Good player. From your season ticket holder. I am giving you some money to thank you. Come on Fulham!"
The image, which Cairney posted on his twitter account, went viral within hours and even led to a segment on Sky Sports:

"?"?And football fans took to twitter to react in universally positive fashion:
@ThomasCairney that young lad deserves a few surprises mate ?
@ThomasCairney keep enjoying the game and inspiring youngsters well done??
@ThomasCairney @footyleaguepoll send the lad a signed shirt ?
"?"?All football supporters could learn a thing or two from this kid, eh?
