Turkish club Goztepe table offer for Chelsea Nigerian defender Omeruo

English Premier League champions Chelsea have received an offer from Turkish club Goztepe to sign Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo.

Omeruo joined the Blues from Belgian side Standard Liege in January 2012, but he has failed to make a single first-team appearance for the Stamford Bridge club.

He has been loaned out four times with his latest spell being with Turkish side Alanyaspor, where he made 26 Super Lig appearances and scored one goal in the 2016/17 season.

This was the Nigeria international’s second spell in Turkey after previously spending time on loan at another Turkish club, Kasimpasa.

Omeruo has two years remaining on his contract at Chelsea, but securing first-team action at the club seems very unlikely.

Turkish media outlet Fotomac is now reporting that Goztepe are interested in offering him the chance to secure regular first-team football.

The newly-promoted side are said to have entered the race alongside Sivasspor to sign the centre-back.

But Goztepe appear to be the front-runners for his signature with their offer being more attractive.

Omeruo, meanwhile, harbours ambitions of staying the Premier League, but accepts he may not get his wish.

“Playing in the English Premier League will be great, but it will be down to the kind of offers I get,” Omeruo said just last week.
