Troost-Ekong injury concern for Super Eagles

Published on: 26 February 2025

Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong is facing a fitness battle ahead of Nigeria's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The defender has missed his Saudi club Al Kholood's last two league games due to a muscle injury, and his status for the upcoming international fixtures is uncertain.

Al Kholood has yet to release a report on Troost-Ekong's health status, leaving Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle hoping for a speedy recovery.

The injury concern comes at a bad time for Nigeria, with Semi Ajayi, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Raphael Onyedika already ruled out or doubtful for the qualifiers.

The Super Eagles face Rwanda in Kigali on 21 March and host Zimbabwe four days later.
