EXPERT TAKE
ESPN's resident scout Tor-Kristian Karlsen offers some analysis of Antoni Milambo.
Having made waves in Netherlands' national youth sides, Milambo is now edging closer to cementing a starting spot for Feyenoord after making a few appearances under Arne Slot last season. His finest hour yet came this season as he scored a double in the 3-1 win at Benfica, the first with an individual effort which saw him nutmeg veteran Nicolas Otamendi before calmly sidefooting the ball into the net from close range.
Milambo is most comfortable as a No. 8 in midfield, but possesses the ability to become a box-to-box operator. His subtle first touch is often used as a way of luring an opponent into closing him down, before he nicks the ball away and sprints clear.
In addition to his quick dribbles and fine technical skills, Milambo also has a Pedri-esque knack of receiving the ball and turning away from his marker in one rapid, instinctive movement. And, much like a graduate of Barcelona's famed La Masia academy, he has an elevated appreciation for high-speed combinations and finds space exceptionally well -- both in deep positions and when entering the box.
Despite only being 5-foot-8, he is robust and deals well with the physicality of senior football, while a mixture of energy and enthusiasm also sees him active in the pressing and recovery phase when out of possession.
