Ghana forward Abdul Majeed Waris was overlooked by Ghana coach Avram Grant for his squad to face Senegal and Mali in international friendlies later this month.

The 23-year-old was not named in Ghana's attacking department despite making a return from injury and playing two games for in the Turkish top-flight league.

Waris suffered an injury and missed Ghana's campaign in Equatorial Guinea and was expected to return to the squad for the friendlies once he had regained fitness.

But Ghana's Israeli boss Grant preferred to stick with Lorient's Jordan Ayew who has scored three goals in his last six games.

Crystal Palace's Kwesi Appiah, Norway-based Mahatma Otoo and FC Sion's Ebenezer Assifuah.

Waris has scored three (3) in his 14 Ghana appearances.

Waris already have a slot in the team so no qualms. He needs time to play more football at club level to recover fully.

For now he should forget about the black stars.
