Tough road ahead for Morocco, Super Falcons easy route, a look at CAF WAFCON draws

Super Falcons of Nigeria will tackle two North African teams  in Tunisia and Algeria  as well as Botswana, in Group B of the 13th Women Africa Cup of Nations finals taking place in Morocco next summer, a group that's believed that they should convincingly win, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

For the host nation, Morocco, they have been handed a challenging draw in the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024. The Atlas Lionesses will face stiff competition from Zambia, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo in Group A, widely regarded as the tournament's ‘Group of Death’.

The draw ceremony, held in Rabat, was a star-studded event attended by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football President Fouzi Lekjaa, football legends, and other dignitaries. The event marked a significant milestone in the build-up to the highly anticipated tournament.

GROUP A: Morocco, Zambia, Senegal, DR Congo

GROUP B: Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria, Botswana

GROUP C: South Africa, Ghana, Mali, Tanzania

Defending champions South Africa will battle it out with Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania in Group C. Meanwhile, Nigeria, a perennial powerhouse in African women's football, will face Botswana, Tunisia, and Algeria in Group B.

The TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2024 is scheduled to take place from July 5th to 26th, 2025. Twelve of Africa’s top national teams will converge on Morocco to compete for continental glory. With the draw now complete, the stage is set for a thrilling tournament that promises to showcase the best of African women’s football.
