Chelsea have reportedly included a £75m option to buy Mykhailo Mudryk in the winger’s proposed loan move to Tottenham.
The reported fee would give Tottenham the opportunity to sign Mudryk permanently at the end of the season, should the deal go through as expected.
Chelsea had made the Ukraine international available for a temporary move because first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge were expected to be limited under Xabi Alonso. Mudryk, 25, has been widely reported to be on the verge of joining Tottenham, where he would reunite with his former Shakhtar manager Roberto De Zerbi.
According to BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella, the agreement between the two clubs contains an option to buy worth £75m. That figure would represent a significant commitment from Tottenham if they decide to make Mudryk’s stay permanent after the loan.
The proposed move would bring Mudryk back into regular club football after a lengthy absence from competitive action. He has not played in a competitive match since November 2024, when he tested positive for a banned substance.
Mudryk has subsequently been cleared to return by the English FA and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). He featured for Chelsea during pre-season after receiving permission to resume playing.
The winger’s immediate future has remained the subject of strong speculation as Chelsea made him available for a loan. The expectation was that he could seek more opportunities away from Stamford Bridge, with competition for first-team minutes under Alonso set to be high.
Tottenham have emerged as the reported destination, with the prospect of Mudryk working again with De Zerbi adding a further element to the proposed deal. De Zerbi previously worked with the player during their time at Shakhtar.
If the loan is completed, the £75m clause would provide Tottenham with a route to keep Mudryk beyond the end of the season. The option would also give Chelsea a potential long-term outcome from the temporary arrangement, although the reported agreement does not confirm whether Tottenham will ultimately choose to take up the fee.
For now, the main development is the scale of the reported purchase option. Chelsea are understood to have included the £75m figure in a deal that would allow Mudryk to leave on loan, while Tottenham consider whether the move could become permanent at the end of the campaign.
