Tottenham are interested in signing Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma, with manager Roberto De Zerbi keen to reunite with the Japan international, according to TEAMtalk.
Brighton have been unable to reach an agreement with the 29-year-old over a new contract. His current deal expires next summer, leaving Tottenham interested in taking advantage of the situation.
De Zerbi previously worked with Mitoma at Brighton and is personally keen on bringing the winger to Tottenham. The Italian manager is understood to regard the player as a potential addition to his squad.
Tottenham are not the only club monitoring Mitoma’s position. Liverpool and Bayern Munich have also registered an interest in the winger.
It remains unclear whether Brighton would be willing to sell Mitoma during the winter transfer window or keep him until the end of his contract. The club could instead attempt to negotiate an extension and retain his services beyond next summer.
Mitoma has not played this season because he is continuing his recovery from injury.
The player is valued at 22 million euros by Transfermarkt.
