Tottenham Receive Boost as Harry Kane Aims to Return for North London Derby

Published on: 12 October 2016

"?Tottenham Hotspur have received a major boost from the treatment table as striker Harry Kane is stepping up his recovery to be fit enough for their North London Derby clash against Arsenal.

The England international has missed Spurs' last four games of the season following an ankle injury picked up against Sunderland in September, but is now set to start light training this week, with a view to intensify this over the coming weeks in time for the club's trip to the Emirates on Super Sunday.

According to "?the Mirror, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is confident that his first choice striker's recovery looks promising, and could return earlier than expected, but has reminded the fans that they will not rush back their potent front-man.

"He's very positive, he's doing well," said Pochettino. "We don't know when he'll play again. We can only explain that he's doing well.

"Next week we hope he'll be training on the pitch - not with the group but he can start to train on the grass a little - but we're happy."

Kane's return to the squad for the club's clash with the Gunners would send shivers down the spines of Arsenal supporters, as the 23-year-old's record has a better goal scoring record in the North London derby than former Highbury hero Thierry Henry.

The Englishman has scored 10 goals in 13 meetings with Arsenal, with a goal-per-game record of 0.77. Despite playing more games and scoring more goals (43 goals in 59 meetings), Henry's record is only 0.73.
