The 23-year-old looked set to join Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday, with the "?Seagulls agreeing an £8m fee with Spurs.

However, according to Sky sources, the midfielder has taken a u-turn on a move to the south coast, opting to sign for recently-relegated Norwich City instead.

Brighton manager Chris Hughton was reportedly keen on bringing the England Under 21 international to the Amex Stadium,  having previously worked with him at Tottenham.

However, personal terms could not be agreed, leaving the deal dead in the water.

As a result, Norwich City have swooped in as they aim to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Although Pritchard has been on the books at White Hart Lane since 2011, he has played the majority of his football out on loan, with stints at Peterborough and Swindon followed by a prolific season at Brentford.

Last season Pritchard was drafted in by West Brom boss Tony Pulis on a six-month loan, but he failed to make an impact at the Hawthorns, making just two Premier League appearances.

Brighton are reportedly furious with Norwich and Spurs for hijacking a deal "?"?that looked, as of Tuesday, as though it was certain to go through.

It will come as a huge blow to Brighton, who narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League on goal difference alone last season.
