Tottenham have agreed a loan deal with Chelsea for winger Mykhailo Mudryk, with the move also approved by the player, according to an updated report from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.
The agreement includes an option for Tottenham to sign Mudryk permanently at the end of the loan, although the clause is not obligatory. The deal therefore gives the London club the opportunity to make the transfer permanent without committing them to a future purchase.
Mudryk is set to reunite with Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi, having previously worked with the Italian coach at Shakhtar Donetsk. Their earlier professional relationship was a significant part of the circumstances surrounding the 25-year-old’s move to Tottenham.
The Ukraine international has not played in an official match for Chelsea since November 2024. He has been serving a suspension after failing a doping test, which has kept him unavailable for competitive football during that period.
His proposed arrival comes as Tottenham look to improve their position after a difficult opening to the season. They have lost both of their first two matches, leaving them without a point at the start of the campaign.
Tottenham are also attempting to recover from a disappointing Premier League finish last season. They ended the previous campaign in 17th place, and the club’s agreement for Mudryk represents an opportunity to add another attacking option to their squad as they seek better results.
Mudryk joined Chelsea as a highly rated winger but has been unable to feature for the club in an official fixture since November 2024 because of his suspension. The loan move would provide him with the prospect of returning to competitive football under a manager he already knows from their time together at Shakhtar Donetsk.
For Tottenham, the structure of the agreement offers flexibility. They can assess Mudryk during his loan spell before deciding whether to activate the optional purchase clause, while the player would have the chance to continue his career under De Zerbi.
All terms have reportedly been settled between Tottenham, Chelsea and Mudryk. The transfer now links the winger’s immediate future with a Tottenham side seeking a change in fortunes following consecutive defeats and a 17th-place Premier League finish last season.
