Tokyo 2020 Qualifiers: Super Falcons defeat Algeria in Blida

A defensive error which led to an own goal and Amarachi Okonkwo’s effort was all the Super Falcons needed to defeat Algeria, 2-0 in a Tokyo 2020 Olympics African qualifying first round fixture in Blida.

Despite coach Thomas Dennerby’s inability to travel with the foreign based professionals, the Super Falcons home based pros executed the Swede’s plan and returned with a victory.

The win at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker gives the nine-time African Champions an advantage going into the second-leg at the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos.

Foreign based pro’s Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie and a few others are expected to be part of the second-leg.
