Togo’s U17 side have set their sights on qualifying for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations ahead of their opening match in the UFOA-B qualifying tournament against Ghana.

Head coach Maurice Noutsoudje and captain Riad outlined their ambitions at a pre-match news conference at the Stade du 4-Aout in Ouagadougou.

Noutsoudje said the team’s preparations had given them confidence as they begin their campaign.

“We have had a good preparation and we are counting on that to qualify,” the Togo coach said.

The priority for the Young Sparrowhawks is to secure a place at the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations, according to Noutsoudje.

Captain Riad also offered an upbeat assessment of the squad’s readiness. He said the players were prepared for the competition and had understood the instructions given to them by their coach.

Togo will face Ghana on Saturday at 18:00 GMT at the Stade du 4-Aout.
