Bayer Leverkusen solidified their grip on the top spot in the Bundesliga with a commanding 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich on Saturday, Nigeriasccernet.com reports.
Alejandro Grimaldo's goal was instrumental in Leverkusen's triumph, further cementing their status as the only unbeaten team in Europe. This was after Nigeria international, Nathan Tella received a pass from the left wing and laid the ball for Grimaldo which struck at goal without wasting time.
The strike came shortly after half-time, following Josip Stanisic's first-half opener for Leverkusen.
Substitute Jeremie Frimpong sealed the win for Leverkusen with a spectacular goal from range in stoppage-time, as Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer found himself out of position.
The result dealt a significant blow to Bayern Munich's hopes of retaining their title.
Looking ahead, Bayer Leverkusen will continue their Bundesliga title challenge with a visit to Heidenheim next Saturday, while Bayern Munich will face Bochum a day after.
