Teemu Pukki announces retirement as HJK contract runs down

Published on: 21 October 2026

Finland forward Teemu Pukki will retire from football at the end of the season, his current club HJK have confirmed.

The 36-year-old has been with the Helsinki side for the past 18 months, having returned to Finland after a career that included spells with Schalke, Celtic, Brondby and Norwich.

Pukki became particularly well known in England for his goals with Norwich in both the Championship and the Premier League. He also established himself as Finland’s leading international scorer, making 133 appearances and scoring 43 goals for his country.

Because Finland’s football season runs from spring to autumn, Pukki’s retirement will take place in the next couple of months. His contract with HJK expires on 31 December 2026.
