Nigeria Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi is in an induced coma after having the first phase of surgery on a serious abdominal injury, NigeriaSoccernet.com reports.
The Nottingham Forest striker has undergone urgent surgery following an abdominal injury sustained during Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Leicester City after colliding painfully with a post.
The Nigerian international forward was taken to the hospital on Monday, after the club’s medical staff highlighted the need for urgent treatment.
He remains in the hospital, with the rest of the procedure set to be completed on Wednesday.
