Nigeria Women senior national team has emerged the best women national team of the year after the team was announced winner in the 2023 Confederation of African Football awards at Marrakesh, Morocco on Monday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The award was given to the Super Falcons ahead of the women's national teams of South Africa and Morocco.
The award comes after the West African giants finished in the round of 16 of the FIFA Women's World Cup losing to eventual finalists, England after finishing unbeaten in a group consisting of defending Olympic champions, Canada, co-hosts, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland.
The 9-time African champions were the only African side in the world to go unbeaten in the group stage with 2 clean sheets.
The Super Falcons have also qualified for the 2024 Women African Cup of Nations after they recently defeated Ethiopia 7-1 on aggregate at the qualifying series.
