Super Eagles were the better side - Obuh
Nigeria vs Swaziland

Former Flying Eagles coach John Obuh has said that the Super Eagles were the better side against the Sihlangu Somnikati of Swaziland.

Eagles defeated the southern Africans 2-0 in Tuesday’s 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifying match at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

Two second-half goals off the foot of Moses Simon and Efe Ambrose proved adequate to hand Nigeria the qualification to the group stage of the quadrennial global football fiesta.

Obuh said Eagles played a largely improved game compared to Friday’s goalless draw in Lobamba, Swaziland.

“Definitely, the Super Eagles were clearly the better side in the today’s (Tuesday) match against Swaziland.

“We had more chances in the game and used fewer compared with the first fixture clash in Lobamba.

“I like the progression noticed in the team and I believe the work to further improve the team will continue now that the Eagles are in the group stage of the World Cup qualifier.

“I was not surprised at the outcome of the encounter, I think it was expected as shown by Nigerians that came out in large numbers for the clash.

“I’m encouraged by their matured reaction in the first half when that goal did not come, they showed uncanny patience with coach Sunday Oliseh believing he will give them victory which he did at the end of the day,” said the FC Ifeanyiubah coach to supersport.com.

Obuh equally commended the visitors for their quality and stiff challenges against the three-time African champions.

“Swaziland came here with the intention to create upset and surprises, they lost few chances too which if they had scored would have made the game difficult for us.

“They actually proved themselves as no pushovers and will certainly go home with their heads held high,” said the former Enugu Rangers coach.

The victory against Swaziland has qualified Nigeria among the 20 countries to play in the group stage that will see the groups winners qualify for Russia 2018 World Cup.
