Super Eagles: Osimhen ready to lead Nigeria to World Cup

Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen has expressed his determination to help his country, Nigeria, qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Super Eagles finished second in their group behind South Africa and will now compete in the playoffs against Gabon, Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He is determined to lead the team to the World Cup, and the playoffs provide a second chance for the Super Eagles to secure a spot in the global tournament.

“We need to work hard and fight for these goals. I want to be in the World Cup with my country. I am giving my everything there too.

“My focus is here now. Next month is the World Cup playoffs. I will help my teammates with my goals, assists and everything,” he was quoted by Sporx via DailyPost.

Osimhen scored a hat-trick in Nigeria's 4-0 win over Benin Republic in their last game.

Nigeria will face Gabon in the semi-final of the playoffs, with Osimhen looking to play a key role in the team's campaign.

The striker and the senior national team missed out on the last edition is 2022 to arc-rivals Ghana on final day of the African qualification series.
