Super Eagles star John Ogu has hit out at Desmond Elliot after the Nollywood actor tried to instigate his fellow House of Assembly members against the use of Social Media.

In a video that surfaced online, the actor turned legislator was seen blaming the fallout of the #endsars protest fake news shared by social media influencers and celebrities.

Elliot said the looting and destruction of properties that occurred following the #Lekkimassacre were as a result of the fake news shared on different social media platforms.

His criticism of social media drew a lot of reactions from Nigerians, including Ogu, who said Desmond and his peers in Government should focus on creating a better country for the citizens.

“Desmond Elliot wey be say Na only bucket of water he buy take use as hand sanitizer for him area during COVID wants to tell us how to use Social Media,” Ogu said on Twitter.

“You want us to regulate Social media but you won’t focus on us having steady light, Good roads, Job opportunities, Better railways, Good Governance but you want to regulate SM,” he added.

Ogu has been an outspoken critic of the Nigerian Government in the last two weeks and even suggested his Super Eagles teammate should boycott future national team games- although he recently apologised for the comment.
