Super Eagles Hopeful Dessers Showcases Ability To Score And Assist As Heracles Thrash Dordrecht

Published on: 19 December 2019

Heracles Almelo have qualified for the third round of the TOTO KNVB Cup following their comprehensive 3-0 victory against Dordrecht on Wednesday, December 18.

Super Eagles hopeful Cyriel Dessers had not scored in his last two league games - against Sparta Rotterdam and his former club FC Utrecht - prior to yesterday's fixture at the Stadion Erve Asito (Almelo) but ended his mini-goal drought when he opened the scoring vs Dordrecht.

The 25-year-old fired into the far corner to give Heracles Almelo the lead in the 17th minute and five minutes before half-time he thought he had doubled the advantage but saw his goal chalked off for offside.

Silvester van der Water made it 2-0 after 50 minutes before Tim Breukers rounded off the scoring four minutes to the end of the contest, with Dessers setting up the goal.

The Belgian-born hitman now has a hand in 20 goals (14 goals, 6 assists) in 19 appearances across all competitions so far this season, proving that he is a decisive player.

If Dessers scores against Heerenveen this weekend, he will surpass his personal best of 11 league goals for half a season which he first set during the 2016-2017 season while playing in the Dutch second-tier for NAC Breda.
