Super Eagles of Nigeria and Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi admits he’s disheartened that he and goalkeepers trainer Lee Baxter had to leave the club, Nigeriasoccernet can report.

Akpeyi was part of 10 players the club deemed surplus requirements with coach Baxter also relieved of his duties.

“He brings in a lot. Honestly speaking, he is someone that I’d love to work with for the rest of my life if I can. Because he brought out a lot of me, he changed a lot of things in my game,” he said

“I thank God I was offered to learn. Coming to Chiefs, even though I had a profile but there was a lot that I was lacking and learning under him. He was open and helped my game.

“He actually put me on the level where I am today, in the game. He helped us a lot, with set-plays and all that against other teams. So he’s very good at his job. It’s just sad that, for now, we had tom the club," he said.
