Strike Action: 8 players unable to join teammates

8 Super Eagles are in Lagos and cannot join their teammates in World Cup qualifiers camp due to the strike action by the organized Labour on Monday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Reports say the airport shutdown by NLC has affected these Super Eagles players from connecting to Uyo from Lagos.

The players include Maduka Okoye, Semi Ajayi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Calvin Bassey, Frank Onyeka, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman and Paul Onuachu.

Meanwhile, 15 Players took part in the Super Eagles training session on Monday morning ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa  this Friday.

However, the team did not train Monday evening but will be allowed to rest and recover.

Nigeria confront South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on Friday, 7th June starting from 8pm, and then fly to Abidjan to tackle Benin Republic at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny on Monday, 10th June starting from 5pm Nigeria time.
